The SLOVENIA GREEN family is getting bigger

At the Green Scheme ceremony, held at the KULT316 Centre in Ljubljana, eight new destinations were awarded with the prestigious SLOVENIA GREEN DESTINATION award. Slovenia will become the first country to be certified by GREEN DESTINATIONS, a global organisation in the field of sustainable tourism.

As well as Ljubljana, which was the first to receive the golden SLOVENIA GREEN award, and six accommodation providers (Ortenia - Apartments in nature, Camp Koren, Trnulja Eco Farm, Terme Snovik, Hotel Thermana Park Laško, and Tourist farm Urška) which have been given the title of SLOVENIA GREEN ACCOMODATION, eight new destination members joined the family of green-oriented tourism destinations; Laško, Kamnik, Idrija, Žalec, Rogla-Zreče, Radlje ob Dravi Cerkno and Celje. The acting director of the Slovenian Tourist Board, Maja Pak, has expressed great satisfaction with the fact that Slovenian tourist destinations and accommodation providers recognize their need for systematic introduction of sustainable development processes.

The SLOVENIA GREEN DESTINATION, SLOVENIA GREEN ACCOMMODATION, SLOVENIA GREEN ATTRACTION and SLOVENIA GREEN TA/TO awards bring members numerous advantages, especially by raising their visibility and improving their promotion through national and international channels.

The Green Scheme is an initiative of the Slovenia Tourism Board, in cooperation with the Association of Sustainable Tourism GoodPlace, for the development of sustainability, which will lead to a strengthening of Slovenia’s position as a green, active and healthy destination. In this way, Slovenian tourism is fulfilling the promise offered by the brand I FEEL SLOVENIA. Slovenia is already looking forward to hosting the flagship event of the green tourism industry - Global Green Destinations Day. A great reason to pack your bags for Ljubljana, European Green Capital 2016, and celebrate World Tourism Day in the greenest possible way!
