Successful presentation of Slovenia echoes at ITB

The world’s biggest tourism fair, ITB Berlin, opened its doors on Wednesday. Green, active and healthy Slovenia’s presentation focuses on Healthy Waters, active holidays in the Soča Valley, and Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016.

The world’s biggest tourism fair, ITB Berlin, opened its doors on Wednesday. Green, active and healthy Slovenia’s presentation focuses on Healthy Waters, active holidays in the Soča Valley, and Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016. On Thursday, 10th March, Slovenia hosted a unique press conference, in a form of a brunch at its stand followed by the presentation of the Slovenian Green Scheme. In the evening, the Slovenian Tourist Board and HIT group organized a Slovenian Evening with representatives from German tourism. Slovenia also received 3 awards: two for promotional video commercials of Slovenia and Slovenian tourism and PATWA Award for the Best Emerging Destination.

Green, active and healthy Slovenia is in Berlin at the ITB fair, one of the world`s leading Travel Trade Shows. The emphasis of the country’s presentation is on Healthy Waters, active holidays in the Soča Valley, and Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016.

On Thursday, 10th March, the Slovenian stand in Hall 17 hosted a delegation from the Slovenian Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, headed by the Minister, Zdravko Počivalšek, who joined key stakeholders in Slovenian tourism and journalists for brunch. The press conference was organized by Tourism Ljubljana, the tourist organization of the European Green Capital 2016. The eco-brunch was followed by a presentation of the Slovenian Green Scheme under the framework of the Green Destination by Maja Pak, Acting Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board, and Jana Apih from the factory of sustainable tourism, GoodPlace. Another delicious event took place later in the day. The Slovenian Evening was accompanied by wines and culinary specialities from the Goriška region of western Slovenia.

Thursday was a successful day for Slovenia. The Slovenian Tourist Board received two awards from the expert committee of Das Goldene Stadttor for two promotional video commercials, namely Invitation to Slovenia: Feel Slovenia and Invitation to Slovenia with Perpetuum Jazzile. The same day, Slovenia also received the PATWA Award for the Best Emerging Destination. The award was presented to the Minister Zdravko Počivalšek, by Taleb Rifai, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), who described Slovenia with the following words: “If you passed your journeys without visiting Slovenia, you have not lived your life.”
