This weekend all active Slovenians and sports enthusiasts will gather at Planica for the Ski Jumping World Cup Finals.

This weekend all active Slovenians and sports enthusiasts will gather at Planica for the Ski Jumping World Cup Finals, to support the world record holder and recipient of the World Cup crystal globe, Peter Prevc. The ski jumping hill welcomed the first jumpers on Tuesday for the qualifying round, and the individual competition will be on Friday. The main events are scheduled for the Team Competition on Saturday and Grand Finale on Sunday. The organisers are expecting a record number of visitors, as more than 100,000 tickets have been sold.
Planica traditionally hosts the finals of World Cup Ski Jumping competition. The event is a well-known sports holiday in Slovenia and each year welcomes many sports enthusiasts. This year from 17th to 20th March, the organisers are expecting a record number of visitors. Each year free bus shuttles from Kranjska Gora are organised for the visitors.
Slovenia is proud to cheer for the Slovenian jumpers, known as the Slovenian Eagles. This season has been spectacular for Peter Prevc, one of the best ski jumpers in the world and the leader of this year’s competition season. He will receive the giant crystal globe on Sunday at the award ceremony.
Peter Prevc still holds the record of the Planica giant hill, 248.5m, from 2015. You can experience the sensations of the long jump for yourself; try the zipline from the top of the Planica giant jumping hill at the Nordic Centre. The centre was opened in December 2015 and offers facilities for training, recuperation and other activities in nature in summer as well as in winter.
