The tourist fair Utazas and a meeting of Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) and China (16 + 1) took place in Budapest at the beginning of March. For the occasion, China conducted the opening ceremony of the new regional offices of the Chinese National Tourism Administration (CNTA), based in Budapest. Within the 16+1 tourism meeting, Slovenia was presented as a tourist destination to leading Chinese tour operators and travel agencies.
At the beginning of March, parallel with the Hungarian tourist fair Utazas, a meeting of the Platform 16+1 and the opening of the new regional offices of the Chinese National Tourism Administration (CNTA) took place in Budapest. The Platform 16+1 was created by Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) with the aim of connecting Europe with Asia and strengthening the relationship with the Chinese National Tourism Administration, and it serves as a valuable instrument for achieving better results in the tourism sector. Within the framework of the cooperation at March’s meeting, the Slovenian Tourist Board organised a presentation of Slovenia as a tourist destination and a study tour for representatives of China’s tour operators and travel agencies to Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016, Postojna cave, Piran and Bled.
Statistical forecasts indicate that in 2016 between 5 and 6 million Chinese tourists will travel to Europe. In 2015 Slovenia recorded a 49.3% growth in the number of overnight stays from Chinese tourists.
