Taste the Specialities of Slovenian Farms

The number of visitors and overnight stays in Slovenian tourist farms are on the rise. According to the Association of Tourist Farms of Slovenia, last year was very successful. Green, active and healthy Slovenia has around 900 registered tourist farms, which operate as wineries and farms with accommodation.

Green, active and healthy Slovenia has around 900 registered tourist farms, which operate as wineries and farms with accommodation. Taste their homemade products at the Specialities of Slovenian Farms national exhibition in Ptuj, from 19th to 22nd May.

With an over 70-year tradition, a stay at a Slovenian tourist farm is a genuinely authentic and personal experience. Guests are quickly acquainted with the family members and everyday farm chores. Life away from the city hustle relaxes the mind and sharpens the senses. Did you know that in Slovenia there are more than seventy thousand farmsteads engaged in agricultural activity, and over 900 registered tourist farms? The number of overnight stays and foreign visitors is rising each year. “If farms know how to present their products, it is a story of great success,” commented Venčeslav Tušar, the president of the Association of Tourist Farms of Slovenia.

From 19th to 24th May the Minorite Monastery in Ptujthe oldest Slovenian town – will be very busy hosting the traditional Specialities of Slovene Farms national exhibition. This culinary event is one of the most important, celebrating the products of Slovenian farmers. It is held in the monastery courtyard, featuring performances by singers and folk musicians, and luring visitors to taste or purchase a wide range of Slovenian delicacies displayed at temping stalls.
