From the Alps to the sea, from the Pannonian plain to the vineyards, Slovenia boasts incredible destinations that have not yet been discovered by the masses. Among them is the alpine town of Kobarid in the Soča Valley, which thrilled the authors of Business Insider enough for them to put it on the list of 18 incredible European destinations that haven`t been discovered.

The alpine town of Kobarid lies in the heart of the Soča Valley in the west of Slovenia. With its magnificent views to the highest Slovenian Alpine peaks, the stunning emerald colour of the Soča river, one of the most beautiful alpine rivers in the world, numerous possibilities for an active holiday and a rich historical heritage, the town inspired the authors of Business Insider.

The town is known for its historical background with numerous relics from the First World War. The 12th Battle of the Isonzo took place near Kobarid in 1917, when the Austro-Hungarian army was finally able to break into the Italian front line and rout the Italian army. The events related to the Isonzo Front are presented in Kobarid Museum with one of the best Slovenian historical exhibitions.

Kobarid boasts an exceptional natural heritage and a broad range of possibilities for enjoying an active holiday. Try rafting, kayaking, hydrospeed, mountain biking, paragliding, hiking, fly fishing or many other outdoor activities. While visiting, treat yourself to a delicious local meal in a restaurant – Kobarid is the town in Slovenia that can boast the highest number of excellent restaurants in one single place.
