Travel back in time at Seviqc Brežice Festival

With a historical flavour and in a bid to promote the music scene from early history, the Seviqc Brežice Festival takes place in numerous venues around Slovenia between June and August. For more than thirty years the festival has gained in reputation as a cultural event of national importance and is known around the world. Every year, the programme ranges from Slovenia’s medieval musical heritage to music from the beginning of the 20th century.

The Seviqc Brežice Festival in southeast Slovenia was established in 1982 by Ars Ramovš, who is also the founder, organiser and producer of the festival. The festival unites high-quality international practitioners of Early Historic Music with their counterparts from Slovenia. The concerts take place from late June up to November, and take place exclusively in venues of Slovenian cultural heritage such as castles, palaces and churches.

The organizers of the festival aim to bring together the most exceptional productions of the world’s early historical music scene and to stimulate performances of the music from Slovenian composers of previous centuries. The programme proposes new and authentic material whose purpose is to promote the diversity of music from Europe’s early history, from the late Middle Ages right up until the beginning of the 20th century.
