The first regular meeting of the Green Slovenia Consortium and its founders was held on Thursday, 16th June. It brought together representatives of destinations and service providers who are included in the green scheme of Slovenian tourism or are in the process of obtaining a Slovenia Green Certificate. The Consortium will enrich its first year of operation with the largest green event of the year – Global Green Destinations Day on 27-28th September in Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016.

Representatives of the Institute of Sustainable Tourism GoodPlace, which is also an accredited partner of the Green Destinations organisation and an operator of the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism, presented the Consortium, its activities for this and next year, and named the candidates for the Board of Members. The Slovenian Tourist Board, the initiator of the Green Slovenia Consortium, introduced the benefits of such integration, cooperation and joint appearances on the market.

The Green Slovenia Consortium comprised 18 founder members (destinations and service providers), who are facing similar challenges in development and marketing in the field of sustainable tourism. The Consortium will become a platform for cooperation and the sharing of good practice of greater importance.

The first year of operation is already being marked by the preparations for the greenest event of the year. Global Green Destinations Day will take place in Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016, from 27-28th September. Celebrate World Tourism Day the green way in one of the greenest countries in the world.
