Celtic, the legendary football club from Glasgow, has arrived in Slovenia and begun preparations for the Champions League qualification matches, which start in the middle of July. The club will stay in Slovenia until 9th July. During this period they will play friendly matches with local Slovenian football clubs.

The famous Scottish club was founded in 1888 and has over 9 million fans around the world. Their decision to spend the summer in Slovenia is important for the positioning of Slovenia as an excellent destination for sports tourism and the organization of international sports events. Celtic is being accompanied by a team of journalists from Scotland. This pre-season tour in Slovenia is also a kick-start to Brendan Rogers career as the new manager of the “Hoops” – a nickname derived from their striped green shirts.

Follow the friendly matches between the Scottish champions and Slovenian football clubs:

*On Wednesday, July 6, Celtic will travel to the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, to take on current title-holders football club Olimpija Ljubljana in Stožice Stadium.

*The Hoops will conclude their tour against NK Maribor on Saturday, July 9, in the Ljudski vrt – the same pitch where Celtic met The Purples in the UEFA Champions League play-off two years ago.
