Have you ever wanted to spend the night in the hideaways of hobbits, remote farms or friendly guesthouses? The Guardian has recommended 10 of the best campsites, cabins and B&Bs in Slovenia. Don’t miss the opportunity for a unique adventure at Glamping Chateau Ramšak in the picturesque wine region of Štajerska.

Explore green, active and healthy Slovenia and its mountains, lakes and nature by staying in unique accommodation recommended to you by The Guardian and the Slovenian Tourist Board:

In Slovenian historic towns and villages, stay at Gostilna Repnik in Kamnik, where the rooms extend a playful nod to Slovenia’s natural and man-made heritage, or at Muzikafe in Ptuj, the oldest Slovenian town.

The mountains of north and north-east Slovenia entice you to stay at EcoHotel Koroš, Slovenia’s first dedicated bike hotel, which has been welcoming cyclists for more than 20 years, or at Green Village Ruševec on Pohorje, where you stay in a small eco village of five log cabins. Or sleep surrounded by the highest Slovenian mountains at Ročnjek Homestead, high above Lake Bohinj on the edge of the thickly forested Pokljuka plateau.

On the Karst plateau, visit the Hostel Pliskovica in Dutovlje and stay in the renovated 400-year old barn, which has also been protected as a cultural monument. Not far away, in the Vipava Valley, Camping Lijak offers 10 underground wooden bunker rooms. In the village of Slap, you can spend the night at Majerija, a subterranean guesthouse with 10 bedrooms under extensive gardens, each one named after a herb.

Adventures on lakes and rivers are perfect if you stay at the Adrenaline Check Eco Camp in Bovec, where the emerald river Soča boosts you with its energy and where you can spend the night in a cosy tent enclosed in a wooden structure. Wooden cabins at Park Idila await you at Lake Bloke, where you can enjoy swimming in the lake and cycling in the surrounding countryside.

Be the first to stay at the new Glamping Chateau Ramšak in Maribor. Sleep in stunning glamping safari tents or a tree house and make your childhood dreams come true. The chateau has an exceptional location in the middle of the Podravska region vineyards, and is only a few moments away from the beautiful city of Maribor.
