Green, active and healthy Slovenia is proud of its rich cultural heritage and traditions. The alpine town of Bled, famous for its island in the middle of the lake, is hosting the 26th Okarina Ethno Festival. “Folk music from across the globe, in all its versions and variants, mixed with modern rhythms, attracts and captivates audiences with high-quality performances, renowned musicians, and a clear message on the importance of multi-culturality and coexistence,” says the official description of the festival on its website. The event, which brings musicians from France, Germany, Hungary, Palestine, Sweden, Turkey, and elsewhere to the Gorenjska region, takes place from 26th July to 7th August. This year’s festival programme is bringing fresh world music and jazz trends to Slovenia. You can find the programme of the performances here.

The festival is organised by the Bled Culture Institute and its programme leader, Leo Ličof, a great fan and connoisseur of folk music who is proud of the work in bringing more than 240 ensembles and solo musicians to Bled in the last quarter of a century.
