The Black Hole Bike Festival is a multi-day mass recreational and competitive event, bringing together the best that the Koroška region has to offer in mountain biking. The region has become a favourite mountain biking destination for bikers from all over the world in recent years.

From 23rd to 31st July, the Koroška region in northern Slovenia hosted the Black Hole Bike Festival. During the nine days of the festival, the participants were able to compete in the Black Hole Enduro competition, take part in the Black Hole Marathon and experience the Koroška region on guided tours to the mountain peaks and forests.

The Black Hole Enduro is a 3 day “enduro” racing event and a major part of the Black Hole bike festival. More than 90 riders from seven countries tackled four special stages at Ravne na Koroškem and the Single Trail Park Jamnica, starting on a Friday evening. This year, Austrian Petra Bernhardt and local youngster Vid Peršak won the competition. Read more about the results here

In the recreational part of the Festival, the most interesting event was the Black Hole Marathon, which leads deep underground through old abandoned mine tunnels under the mountain Peca. It was also possible to take part in organised guided tours that included freeride or downhill adventures, mountain biking in the Karavanke Geopark, or biking with an emphasis on a responsible attitude towards the environment and nature.
