Bear watching in green Slovenia

Slovenia has a green heart. Forests cover three-fifths of the surface and almost every Slovenian town is only a few steps away from the woods. Slovenia has a green heart. Forests cover three-fifths of the surface and almost every Slovenian town is only a few steps away from the woods. Forests and plains are home to many different animal and plant species. Experience bear watching in the treetops in the south of Slovenia. Join the guide at the Brown Bear Watching Tour, where you can admire the largest European carnivore in its natural habitat from the lookout post.

Are you interested in seeing the brown bear in its natural habitat? Join the organised Brown Bear Watching Tour. Tourism Lož, in the south of Slovenia, is organising special tours on 13th and 17th August, and again on 10th and 13th September. The specialist tour guide will take you through the brown bear habitat, where you can learn how humans coexist with forest animals. Later the tour takes you to a lookout post, where you will most likely be able to see the brown bear and other forest animals, such as deer, fox, hares and others.

Slovenia is one of the rare countries in Europe with a stable and vital brown bear population which has an expanding habitat and is strongly increasing in numbers. It is estimated that there are somewhere between 500 to 700 brown bears living in the green forests of Slovenia.
