The town of San Sebastian in Spain, one of the European capitals of culture in 2016, hosted several events promoting Ljubljana`s culture and cuisine, including the Ana Desetnica street theatre festival, the Library Under the Treetops project and food tastings from all around the European Green Capital 2016. One of the aims of the events was to promote Ljubljana as a candidate for European Capital of Culture in 2025.
Over the last days of July, Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016, presented itself in San Sebastian in northern Spain as a cultural and gastronomic centre. The presentation included performances of the Ana Desetnica street theatre festival on the Puente del Kursaal bridge and of the Library Under the Treetops project all around the Spanish city.
San Sebastian, also known for the highest number of Michelin starred restaurants per square metre in the world, also served Slovenian street cuisine on the Puente del Kursaal bridge, while the Bokado San Telmo restaurant served Basque variations of traditional Taste Ljubljana dishes.
The promotion and events in San Sebastian are connected with Ljubljana’s candidacy to become the European Capital of Culture 2025.
