The international celebration of green tourism, Global Green Destinations Day, is taking place in Ljubljana on 27th-28th September 2016. This flagship event of sustainable tourism at a global scale will bring together leading experts in sustainable development and green tourism.

The international celebration of green tourism, Global Green Destinations Day, is taking place in Ljubljana on 27th-28th September 2016. This flagship event of sustainable tourism at a global scale will bring together leading experts in sustainable development and green tourism. Luigi Cabrini, Chair of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and advisor to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), will hold his speech at the opening of the conference. After the ITB in Berlin this year in spring, this will be the next important presentation of the Slovenia Green national programme by Maja Pak, the Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board.

Global Green Destinations Day presents the latest information on the most innovative green models and solutions being adopted by destinations, hotels and other tourism providers who are putting their efforts into becoming more environmentally, socially and economically friendly. The event also presents a unique opportunity for networking, exchanging contacts and make potential partnerships.

The conference will be opened on Tuesday, 27th September by the Slovenian Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Zdravko Počivalšek. The opening will be followed by the keynote speech by Luigi Carbini, which is on Looking forward to 2017: the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. The Slovenia Green national programme and the best green practices in Slovenian tourism will be presented by the Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board, Maja Pak.
