Maribor receives a Slovenia Green Silver Label

Maribor, the second biggest city in Slovenia, has joined the Green scheme of Slovenian tourism, which brings together all the efforts to develop sustainable tourism in Slovenia and improves and evaluates the sustainable functioning of destinations and service providers. Maribor has fulfilled the requirements of sustainable development which define the Green Scheme Slovenian tourism, and thus acquired the Slovenia Green Silver Label.

Known as the home of the oldest Vine in the world, Maribor has received a Slovenia Green Silver Label. The Green Scheme is an initiative of the Slovenia Tourism Board, in cooperation with the Association of Sustainable Tourism GoodPlace, for the development of sustainability, which will lead to a strengthening of Slovenia’s position as a green, active and healthy destination. In this way, Slovenian tourism is fulfilling the promise offered by the brand I FEEL SLOVENIA.

Maribor, a former European Capital of Culture, is a European town with a rich cultural heritage. Lent, the oldest part of the city, is located along the southern edge of the town walls by the Drava River, and has always been the liveliest part of the old city centre. When walking along the banks of the Drava River take a look at the oldest vine in the world, a symbol of the rich wine tradition of Slovenia, and stop by the Old Vine House for wine tasting.
