The National Geographic World Legacy Award 2017, by National Geographic magazine and the International Tourism Exchange ITB Berlin, are rewarding sustainable practices from around the world.

The National Geographic World Legacy Award 2017, by National Geographic magazine and the International Tourism Exchange ITB Berlin, are rewarding sustainable practices from around the world. The Slovenian Tourist Board has applied on behalf of Slovenia as a green and sustainable destination which is building on green, sustainable policies, environmentally-friendly initiatives, and protecting the natural environment and the cultural heritage.
The finalists of the World Legacy Awards will be announced on 1st December 2016, and the winners will be announced in March 2017 at ITB Berlin, on one of the biggest tourist exchange markets in the world.
The World Legacy Awards honour the companies, organisations and destinations that are driving a positive transformation of the tourism industry, showcasing leaders and visionaries in sustainable tourism best practice, and sharing their stories with millions of today`s travellers. They are an initiative of the National Geographic Society, one of the world`s largest and most prestigious non-profit scientific, educational, and travel organisations, reaching more than 450 million people worldwide, in partnership with ITB Berlin, the world`s largest travel gathering. The World Legacy Awards offer unprecedented international visibility and promotion.
The winners and finalists will receive coverage in National Geographic Traveller and other National Geographic print and digital media, reaching a global audience.
