At this year’s Tourism Panel at Bled Strategic Forum, the participants, a large number of distinguished guests and experts in the field of tourism and sustainable development, will witness the signing of the UNWTO’s document to commit to the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism of the private sector.

All seven Slovenian signatories are included in the green scheme of Slovenian tourism, have one of the environmental certificates, and are also recipients of the Slovenia Green Accommodation label. The document will be signed by Camp Koren (Kobarid), Rooms with a story Pr`Gavedarjo (Kranjska Gora), Terme Snovik (Kamnik), Tourist Farm Urška (Zreče), Hostel Celica (Ljubljana), Hotel Park Ljubljana, and Terme Olimia (Podčetrtek).

The World Tourism Organisation adopted the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism as a basic reference framework for responsible and sustainable tourism in 1999. In 2011, they started a campaign to raise awareness and attract the private tourism sector to sign and follow the Code. Signing the Code represents a commitment to support a series of general and fundamental ethical principles in relation to sustainable and responsible tourism development, such as, to respect human rights and combat the exploitation of people and the environment, and to respect the rights of local communities and workers. The companies and associations that decide to commit to the Code must fully understand the principles of corporate social responsibility and demonstrate action in this area.
