A fascinating new World of Illusions opened its doors in Ljubljana`s Kongresni trg Square on Monday. The European Green Capital 2016 got its first ever Museum of Illusions, where nothing is what it seems. Showcasing almost 40 optical illusions and holograms, the museum teases visitors’ brains and challenges their perceptions.
The Museum of Illusions is full of special rooms, such as the Infinity Disco Room, which plays music, has a disco ball, and is filled with mirrors, giving visitors the illusion of infinite space. A special feature is its Vortex Tunnel. It is designed to make visitors feel like they are floating and losing balance even though the room is completely still. "The museum is meant to be fun, educational and, most of all, different from other museums, where we can observe exhibitions only from afar or in a group," commented Urška Humar, the Museum Director.
The author of Museum of Illusions is Dejan Grbič, who wanted to bring something new and fresh to Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016. Visitors are therefore invited to touch the exhibits, take pictures and explore the museum on their own. The accompanying text of the installations is in Slovenian, English, German, and Italian.
