A Special Welcome and a Shared Destination Story as the LA Lakers Visit Slovenia

The Los Angeles Lakers’ visit to Slovenia is creating a valuable opportunity to put the country in the international spotlight. Building on the strong interest generated both at home and abroad, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) has stepped up its communication and promotional activities. Slovenian tourism destinations have joined the story with a shared welcome for the Lakers, brought together visually by specially designed I feel Slovenia T-shirts. At the same time, the two videos produced by the STB with Luka Dončić have already generated more than 5 million views combined.

The visit is taking place at the initiative of and has been organised by Luka Dončić, who invited his teammates and other club representatives to his home country. While the STB is not involved in organising the visit or its programme, it is delighted that Luka has chosen to introduce his guests to Slovenia.

During their stay, club representatives are discovering Slovenia and its experiences. Their personal impressions and social media posts have the potential to generate significant organic reach among millions of basketball fans around the world. The Lakers’ announcement that they were heading to Slovenia has already attracted more than one million views.

I feel Slovenia T-Shirts Bring Tourism Destinations Together in an Invitation to Experience Slovenia

To mark this unique occasion, the STB also created a special series of I feel Slovenia T-shirts. Players and other representatives of the Los Angeles Lakers received them as a special gift upon their arrival in Slovenia.

Together with Slovenian tourism destinations, the STB aims to build on this moment of heightened domestic and international attention and turn it into a shared story about Slovenia. In cooperation with destinations across the country, a series of engaging and dynamic video content is being created to connect Slovenia’s destinations and further amplify the communication impact surrounding the visit.

His genuine connection with his home country and his exceptional reach in the international sports world make an important contribution to Slovenia’s visibility, particularly in the United States.
