Slovenian Ultra-Cyclist Adam Jordan to Ride the Entire Slovenian Mountain Biking Trail in Just Five Days

Slovenian Ultra-Cyclist Adam Jordan to Ride the Entire Slovenian Mountain Biking Trail in Just Five Days

Slovenian ultra-cyclist Adam Jordan is set to take on one of the country's most demanding cycling challenges this August. Over the course of just five days, he plans to complete the entire Slovenian Mountain Biking Trail (STKP), covering approximately 1,850 kilometres and more than 50,000 metres of elevation gain without external support. His journey through Slovenia's diverse landscapes will also form the centrepiece of an upcoming documentary film.

Former professional road cyclist and now ultra-endurance rider Adam Jordan is expected to begin the challenge on 5 August. His goal is to complete the full circular Slovenian Mountain Biking Trail (STKP), which connects Slovenia's major mountain ranges, in just five days.

The Trail stretches from the Alpine world to the Adriatic coast, linking the forests of Pohorje, the Karawanks, the Kamnik–Savinja Alps and the Julian Alps, before continuing across the Karst region, the Brkini Hills and the Slovenian coast. From there, the route turns east through the Snežnik Massif, the Kočevje forests, Bela krajina, Dolenjska, Kozjansko and the Slovenske gorice hills before returning to Pohorje. The official route covers approximately 1,850 kilometres, includes more than 50,000 metres of elevation gain and is divided into 43 stages.

More Than a Speed Record

The project, titled STKP in 5 Days, combines an extraordinary sporting challenge, a personal story and a documentary film. Rather than focusing solely on completing the route as quickly as possible, the project aims to showcase Slovenia's remarkable landscape diversity and introduce the Slovenian Mountain Biking Trail to a wider Slovenian and international audience through an authentic story.

Jordan will complete the route entirely self-supported, carrying all of his equipment on the bike and independently managing food, rest and any necessary repairs. A small film crew will document the journey without providing logistical or sporting assistance.

To reach his goal, he will need to cycle approximately 350 to 400 kilometres each day while climbing around 9,000 vertical metres. He expects to spend between 18 and 20 hours a day in the saddle, leaving only a few hours for sleep and recovery. Despite the demanding numbers, the project is not primarily about speed.

I don't want to glorify speed or suffering. I want to show how sporting challenge, peace, presence and connection with nature can all exist on the same journey.

Slovenia Through the Eyes of an Ultra-Cyclist

The journey will reveal many different faces of Slovenia, from endless forests and high alpine landscapes to remote villages, mountain huts, vineyard-covered hills, the Karst region and the Adriatic coast. Thanks to its exceptional geographical diversity, Slovenia offers an extraordinary variety of cycling experiences, all connected by the continuous STKP route.

The project aims to position Slovenia as a destination for active, authentic and responsible nature-based experiences. At the same time, it highlights that the true value of such a journey lies not only in reaching the finish but also in discovering places more slowly, respecting the natural environment and connecting with local communities along the way.

From a Five-Day Challenge to a Documentary Film

The entire challenge will be documented by a dedicated film crew and photographer. Following the completion of the ride, the footage will be turned into a documentary exploring not only the physical and psychological aspects of ultra-cycling but also Slovenia's spectacular natural beauty, moments of solitude, uncertainty, exhaustion and joy, and one rider's personal search for peace through movement.

The documentary's digital premiere will be accompanied by short videos, photography, behind-the-scenes content and daily updates from the route. The project is designed to appeal both to the cycling community and to anyone drawn to stories of nature, endurance and personal adventure.
