Slovenia's gastronomy story continues to gain international momentum. The latest MICHELIN Guide brings a new star and confirms the country's highest culinary achievements, while UN Tourism has recognised Slovenia as one of the world's leading examples of gastronomy tourism development.

Slovenian gastronomy continues to strengthen its international reputation, with the latest MICHELIN Guide Slovenia 2026 bringing another major milestone. Slovenia now boasts 74 MICHELIN-recognised restaurants and 13 MICHELIN stars, one more than last year. Most notably, Galerija okusov has earned its first MICHELIN star, while Slovenia's highest culinary achievements remain firmly in place. Hiša Franko, led by Ana Roš, has once again retained its prestigious three MICHELIN stars, while Milka, under the leadership of David Žefran, continues to hold two MICHELIN stars. Eight Slovenian restaurants now carry one MICHELIN star, confirming the depth and consistency of the country's culinary excellence.

The latest results come at a time when Slovenia's gastronomy story is receiving broader international recognition. These achievements reflect years of coordinated development and promotion led by the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB), which has played a central role in positioning Slovenia as a boutique gastronomic destination where outstanding cuisine, sustainability, local ingredients, culture and authentic experiences come together. Through initiatives such as the Taste Slovenia brand, partnerships with internationally recognised gastronomic guides, international media and influencer programmes, sustainability projects, and support for culinary education and talent development, the STB has helped elevate Slovenian gastronomy onto the global stage.

The strength of this long-term approach is also reflected in Slovenia's international partnerships. Cooperation with JRE – Jeunes Restaurateurs continues to strengthen the visibility of sustainable gastronomy, while Slovenia's selection as host of the 2028 JRE Congress further confirms its growing importance on the European culinary map.
