Danica Campsite Opens New Sustainable Glamping Cabins in the Heart of Bohinj

Surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the Julian Alps and located just minutes from Lake Bohinj, Kamp Danica has unveiled five new sustainable wooden glamping cabins that bring guests closer to nature.

Visitors to the Julian Alps can now enjoy a new nature-based accommodation experience in Bohinj. Danica Campsite, located in Bohinjska Bistrica near Lake Bohinj, has introduced five new wooden glamping cabins as part of a wider redevelopment of the campsite and its tourism offer.

Set along the banks of the Sava Bohinjka River and surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the Julian Alps, the new cabins provide guests with a peaceful stay immersed in nature while remaining close to one of Slovenia’s most iconic alpine destinations.

The project reflects Bohinj’s long-standing commitment to sustainable tourism. The cabins were built using Slovenian timber and traditional solid-wood construction techniques, without the use of adhesives, chemicals or metal components. Clad in charred spruce wood and protected with natural pine resin, the structures blend harmoniously into their surroundings while showcasing the region’s rich woodworking heritage.

Inspired by the traditional wooden architecture of Bohinj, the cabins are positioned on a terrace beneath a distinctive rock formation left behind by ancient glaciers. Large glass surfaces create a seamless connection between the interior spaces and the surrounding natural environment.

Developed in partnership with Slovenian companies and experts, the project combines contemporary comfort, sustainable design and local craftsmanship. It also supports the local economy and contributes to the continued development of Bohinj as one of Slovenia’s leading destinations for responsible and nature-focused tourism.
