The Opening of Renovated Arboretum Golf Resort

The fully renovated Arboretum Golf Resort, a EUR 40 million project, blends golf, gastronomy, nature, business events and sustainability just outside the capital Ljubljana.

Located next to the renowned Volčji Potok Arboretum — Slovenia’s largest botanical park — the renewed resort represents a significant step in the country’s strategy to position itself as a green, boutique destination focused on high-quality experiences rather than mass tourism.

Spread across more than 35 hectares near Kamnik, the resort officially reopened on April 25, 2026, in the presence of the Slovenian President, Nataša Pirc Musar, local officials, investor Joc Pečečnik and representatives of the tourism sector.

The redevelopment, completed over more than three years, transformed the resort into a contemporary destination combining outdoor recreation, premium hospitality and event infrastructure within one of Slovenia’s most scenic alpine settings.

At the centre of the project is a redesigned 18-hole golf course accompanied by four practice areas and extensive landscaping that included the planting of 10,000 new trees. Sustainability played a major role in the renovation, with upgraded irrigation and drainage systems, environmentally conscious landscaping, and improved green mobility infrastructure throughout the resort.

The investment also reflects the growing importance of business and experiential tourism in Slovenia. The new Veronika conference and banquet hall can host up to 200 guests, while additional multifunctional venues position the resort as a destination for boutique conferences, incentive travel and private events. The renovated clubhouse, featuring the renowned JB Restaurant, further strengthens the culinary dimension of the experience.

Digital innovation is another focus of the project, with a dedicated mobile app enabling visitors to manage memberships, book tee times and access resort services directly from the course.

With its location less than 30 minutes from Ljubljana and close to the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Arboretum Golf Resort adds a new premium experience to Slovenia’s evolving tourism landscape — one that combines sport, nature and understated luxury in the heart of Europe.
