Rogatec Unveils New Season with E-Bike Experiences, Interactive Offers and Strategic Tourism Investments

Located in eastern Slovenia, near Rogaška Slatina and the border with Croatia, Rogatec enters the new tourism season with a strengthened and diversified offer. Introducing e-bike experiences, hands-on interactive experiences, and targeted infrastructure investments, the destination continues to upgrade its flagship attractions– the Rogatec Open-Air Museum and Strmol Mansion – further reinforcing its position as a boutique destination where heritage meets active discovery.

This year’s line-up places a strong emphasis on accessibility, sustainability, and experience-based travel. The expanded offer connects nature, culture, and active leisure, inviting visitors to explore the destination in a more dynamic and personal way.

A key highlight is the launch of E-bike Rogatec, built around a new cycling connection between Žalec and Rogatec. The product includes six curated e-bike routes, ranging from 25 to 70 kilometres and suitable for different fitness levels. The routes combine scenic viewpoints from Donačka Gora, rides through forest landscapes, and carefully selected stops at cultural landmarks such as the Rogatec Open-Air Museum and Strmol Mansion. Visitors can opt for self-guided exploration or guided experiences, offering flexibility and deeper insight into the destination.

The new season also brings a strong focus on interactive, hands-on experiences. The Become a Herbalist for a Day experience introduces visitors to the world of herbs, traditional knowledge, and nature-based gastronomy. At Strmol Mansion, a newly established woodworking workshop offers the opportunity to learn traditional craftsmanship under expert guidance and create original products. The broader craft offer is complemented by culinary experiences under the unifying theme It Smells Like Bread, celebrating local ingredients and time-honoured baking traditions.

Events continue to play a central role in Rogatec’s tourism offer. The season opens with the Green Festival on 18 April at the Rogatec Open-Air Museum, followed by the traditional Likof na taberhi and more than 120 free activities within the Taste the Heritage initiative. Among the highlights is a new open-air staging of the classic Slovenian play Županova Micka, adding a cultural dimension to the visitor experience.

Alongside content development, Rogatec is advancing several strategic projects. Upgrades to public infrastructure on Donačka Gora will enhance access to one of the area’s most recognisable natural landmarks, while a new intergenerational centre will foster community engagement and year-round activity. The ongoing digitalisation of tourism content – also tailored to vulnerable groups – will continue through 2028, with the aim of improving inclusivity and the overall visitor experience.
