Thermana Laško Unveils Renewed Therapeutic Spaces with a Focus on Accessibility

The spa town of Laško, with a 170-year tradition rooted in the healing properties of its unique thermal water, continues to evolve its offer. At Thermana Laško, long recognised for combining natural resources with medical expertise, a renewed spatial concept is now further enhancing the guest experience across rehabilitation, preventive health services, and wellness experiences.

A three-part collage shows rehabilitation and wellness services at Thermana Laško. On the left, a therapist is assisting a man lying on a treatment bed, supporting his arm during a physiotherapy session. In the centre, a calm reception area features the Thermana logo on the wall above a simple wooden bench. On the right, a therapist guides a man performing a strength exercise with a dumbbell in a gym setting. At the heart of the update is the Zdravilišče Laško Hotel, the historic building where the town’s thermal story began. Its therapeutic areas have been comprehensively redesigned to provide greater comfort, functionality and efficiency in treatment. The modernised spaces support a wide range of therapies and rehabilitation services, delivered by multidisciplinary teams of specialists.

A key focus of the renovation has been accessibility. The upgraded facilities have been adapted to meet the needs of guests with reduced mobility, reflecting Thermana Laško’s commitment to inclusive, tourism-for-all principles – an approach also recognised through the European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) award for accessible tourism.

The renewed Centre of Medicine brings together specialist outpatient clinics and consultations across fields including orthopaedics, physiatry, physical and rehabilitation medicine, traumatology, neurosurgery, speech therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Supported by contemporary medical equipment, the centre provides comprehensive and coordinated care.

In parallel, the Therapy Centre continues to deliver tailored, expert-led treatments aimed at restoring or maintaining mobility and functional ability across all life stages.

The transformation of the complex is being implemented in phases. While the redesigned therapeutic spaces and rooms have already been introduced, additional upgrades to selected hotel areas have been completed in recent months, with façade renovation currently underway – marking the next step in the ongoing modernisation of this long-established destination.
