Open Kitchen 2026 Returns to Pogačar Square on 20 March; Restaurant Week Also Begins

On Friday, 20 March, the 14th season of the popular Open Kitchen (Odprta kuhna in Slovenian) pop-up culinary market will open at Pogačar Square in Ljubljana. Every sunny Friday between March and October, it will once again serve up a rich selection of street food and relaxed socialising over favourite dishes and drinks. This year, as many as one-third of the vendors are completely new. On the same day, the Spring edition of Restaurant Week also returns.

Open Kitchen at Pogačar Square

This year, new vendors are joining the culinary lineup, further enriching the programme and bringing delicious surprises. In total, more than 65 vendors will participate, offering over 280 dishes – from traditional Slovenian specialties to modern street food concepts from around the world.

In recent years, the event has become one of the most recognizable gastronomic projects in Slovenia, combining top-quality street food, traditional Slovenian dishes, modern bistro concepts, international cuisines, as well as craft beer, cocktails, and wine. This diversity is precisely what makes a stroll between the stalls a constantly new experience – every few steps, a different culinary story awaits.

Now in its 14th year of shaping the cultural pulse of the capital, the event invites all lovers of good food to head to Pogačar Square on foot, by bike, or by public transport, and indulge in culinary delights and pleasant company.

Spring Restaurant Week

This year’s Spring Restaurant Week, taking place from 20 to 29 March, will bring together a record 123 restaurants across Slovenia, including 14 bearing the Slovenia Green label. The project plays an important role in advancing high-quality local gastronomy and continues to attract strong interest from food enthusiasts.

Each edition of Restaurant Week carries its own thematic focus. This year, it is “the pleasure after dining”—the feeling a guest takes away after the experience. Restaurant Week is not only an opportunity to enjoy a great meal, but above all to experience food that leaves you feeling good—satisfied but not heavy, content, curious, and eager to return.
