A Frozen Table in the Alps: Bohinj Introduces a New Concept of Quiet Luxury

In the heart of the Julian Alps, Bohinj recently unveiled an unusual and quietly ambitious concept for the future of Alpine tourism. On 3 March 2026, selected international travel agents, journalists and tourism promoters gathered in the valley for Frozen Table – an exciting experience that introduced the newly established Bohinj Club, a collaborative initiative connecting boutique accommodation, fine cuisine and curated nature experiences.

The project was created by Fox on the Rocks Chalet and Vila Muhr, bringing together providers who share a common vision for Bohinj’s development: small-scale luxury, exceptional gastronomy, deep respect for nature and experiences that allow visitors to connect more meaningfully with the Alpine landscape.

The gathering unfolded as a carefully orchestrated journey through place and season. Guests first met at Vila Muhr for a refined tea reception before moving to the Fox on the Rocks estate, where local cheeses from Tourist Farm Gartner were paired with sparkling wines from Istenič. The experience then continued high above the valley toward Vogel, where the centrepiece of the event awaited.

Set against the dramatic alpine scenery, guests were welcomed by an extraordinary ice table – hand-carved over the course of a week. Here, chef Davor Arnautović prepared an intimate fine dining menu inspired by the surrounding landscape. Using local ingredients and a contemporary interpretation of Alpine cuisine, he created a culinary narrative that reflected both the character of the region and the season.

More than a gastronomic spectacle, Frozen Table offered a glimpse into a broader philosophy for destination development. The concept behind Bohinj Club emphasises collaboration between carefully selected partners, creating a seamless experience that combines boutique stays, gastronomy and nature.

Although the next Bohinj Club event has not yet been officially announced, the organisers confirm that a new edition is already being considered. Like the first, it will be shaped by the rhythm of the seasons and the natural environment of the valley.

That is also the central ambition of Bohinj Club: to create experiences that stay with visitors long after they leave the mountains.
