New Arts & Culture Video Story: Slovenia’s Arts & Culture – Front Row to a Contemporary Canvas

The Slovenian Tourist Board presents a new flagship video story for the Arts & Culture product, positioning Slovenia at the heart of contemporary, urban and sustainability-oriented cultural creativity. The film offers a different perspective on the destination – through movement, sound and the visual power of contemporary artistic production.

The new video story, Slovenia’s Arts & Culture: Front Row to a Contemporary Canvas, moves away from the classic promotional format. Instead, it delivers an experiential narrative, precisely crafted in visual and sound design, without words. It guides viewers through Slovenia’s contemporary cultural landscape – through architecture, art, sound and urban rhythm. Rather than explaining, it evokes feeling; instead of listing attractions, it creates an authentic cultural experience.

Dance as a Link Between Tradition and Contemporary Expression

At the centre of the story is a dancer – the protagonist – whose subtle yet expressive movement connects tradition and modernity, heritage and experimentation, the monumental and the intimate. Her journey unfolds across both iconic and emerging creative venues – from Plečnik’s architecture and the ambience of Križanke to contemporary cultural centres and creative hubs. Movement becomes a way of exploring space, architecture and artistic practice.

The Rhythm of Contemporary Culture

The film explores contemporary Slovenian arts and culture through carefully composed sound, subtle movement and a distinctive aesthetic visual language, gradually building towards a shared sonic and emotional catharsis.

The video addresses a new generation of cultural visitors – curious, open-minded, cosmopolitan individuals interested in current artistic production, creative centres, undiscovered spaces and curated festivals. It does not speak to them as tourists, but as co-creators of urban life seeking authenticity, local stories and a city experience that lives and breathes art 365 days a year.

Art as a Destination Experience

With this video story, the Slovenian Tourist Board continues to communicate the overarching theme of Arts & Culture and further strengthens Slovenia’s positioning as a contemporary, creative and visually compelling cultural tourism destination with a strong sustainability focus.

The video was produced by Karata Film, with dancer Anja Modernorfer in the leading role.
