New Feel Slovenia Podcast Episode: Art Vital – Marina Abramović, Ulay and Ljubljana’s Contemporary Art Scene

Released on Valentine’s Day, this episode is both a tribute to an extraordinary artistic partnership of Marina Abramović and Ulay and an invitation to experience Slovenia through the lens of bold contemporary creativity.

The latest episode of Feel Slovenia the podcast features an exclusive and deeply personal interview with Marina Abramović – widely regarded as the most influential living performance artist. The special Valentine’s Day release centres on Art Vital, the major exhibition at Cukrarna in Ljubljana dedicated to Abramović and her long-time artistic and romantic partner, Ulay.

In this intimate conversation, Abramović reflects on how she and Ulay met, how their creative and emotional partnership evolved, and how they built a radical artistic practice at a time when performance art had virtually no market, no institutional framework, and little public understanding. Between 1976 and 1988, the duo fundamentally reshaped contemporary art – living nomadically in a van, testing trust and endurance and transforming their relationship into artistic material.

Beyond the exhibition, the episode highlights Slovenia’s broader cultural landscape – from Moderna galerija and the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova in Ljubljana to the forthcoming museum in Bled – positioning the country as an increasingly compelling destination for art lovers.

The new episode of Feel Slovenia the podcast is available on all major podcast platforms.
