Promising 2026 Season: New Routes, Stronger Schedules and Expanding Connectivity

Ljubljana Airport is entering 2026 with renewed momentum and an ambitious expansion of its flight network. The arrival of Pegasus Airlines in January set the tone for what promises to be a dynamic year, marked by new destinations, extended seasonal services and increased frequencies on key routes. The positive outlook builds on an exceptionally successful 2025, when the airport welcomed nearly 1.6 million passengers and confirmed its role as Slovenia’s leading international gateway.

The launch of Pegasus Airlines’ operations at Ljubljana Airport signalled a confident start to the year. Further expansion follows in early April, when easyJet introduces a new direct connection to Edinburgh and in June, with Wizz Air expanding its presence with a new service to Podgorica.

Spain is gaining particular prominence in the 2026 schedule. Iberia will significantly extend its seasonal route between Madrid and Ljubljana, operating twice weekly from early June through the end of September. At the same time, Vueling will continue to connect Ljubljana with Barcelona during the summer season.

Key European hub carriers are also reinforcing their Ljubljana services. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, which has operated daily flights between Ljubljana and Amsterdam since March 2025, will further optimise its schedule with convenient morning departures and evening returns. Swiss International Air Lines will likewise enhance its Zurich service with improved timings.

The expanded network and growing airline presence reflect the airport’s steady growth. After handling close to 1.6 million passengers in 2025, Ljubljana Airport continues to invest in stronger international links, diversified route offerings and improved connectivity. With new carriers, extended seasons and reinforced schedules, 2026 is set to further strengthen Slovenia’s accessibility and position the country even more prominently on the European aviation map.

Visitors are also invited to explore the airport through a virtual tour and discover its modern infrastructure and passenger-friendly facilities.
