Overview of STB’s Digital Communication for the Chinese Market in 2025

In the area of digital communication for the Chinese target market, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB), in partnership with a selected external partner, manages Chinese-language content on the Slovenia.info portal and oversees the presence on key Chinese social media platforms. In 2025, these activities generated more than 4.8 million views across social media, reflecting strong reach and growing interest in Slovenia among Chinese audiences.

Given the specific nature of the Chinese market and the use of social media platforms that are neither widespread nor accessible in Slovenia, a high level of strategic planning, coordination and consistency is essential to ensure effective communication.

The Chinese-language website, designed in line with the visual identity and structure of Slovenia.info, presents Slovenia’s tourism offer through carefully selected and locally adapted content. In 2025, the site recorded 708,339 page views. The most visited sections included the homepage and content related to Piran, Bled, Postojna Cave, Ljubljana and border formalities. In terms of geolocation, the largest share of visitors came from Shanghai, followed by Guangdong and Beijing.

STB maintains an active presence on major Chinese social media platforms, including Weibo, WeChat, Red Book and Douyin (Chinese TikTok). Over the course of the year, the total number of followers across these channels reached 637,807, while user engagement resulted in 10,725 interactions, indicating a solid level of audience involvement.

Among the most frequently raised questions by followers are those related to accessibility and travel to Slovenia, clearly demonstrating the interest of potential Chinese visitors in travelling to the destination.

STB’s activities in the Chinese market are also supported and monitored by the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Beijing, which contributes additional content proposals and supports the coordinated promotion of Slovenia in China.
