Authentic Flavours of Luče: Dining at Hiša Raduha — Michelin Guide Feature

Set on the banks of the Savinja River, Hiša Raduha proves that a true multi-generational tradition and deep respect for local ingredients can create an experience that goes far beyond ordinary dining. This has been recognised by the Michelin Guide in the article “Authentic Flavours of Luče: Dining at Hiša Raduha,” which shines a spotlight on Hiša Raduha and praises its distinctive culinary philosophy. The article was produced as part of a partnership between the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) and Michelin.

Hiša Raduha is not just a restaurant; it is a family-run story that has been unfolding for four generations, with the fifth already stepping into its role. The kitchen has always been in women’s hands — their knowledge and sensitivity to place have shaped the approach now led by chef Martina Breznik. For her, cooking is “an act of the heart”: not merely the transformation of ingredients, but an expression of respect for place, nature and history, reflected in every plate.

The space — a wooden house with six tables, a warm atmosphere and a fireplace — creates an almost meditative experience. The ambience is enriched by artistic details by local creators, such as wooden phoenixes by a local artist. Yet the most important element remains what arrives on the plate. The kitchen uses exclusively seasonal, local ingredients — from its own garden, nearby farms and forests, and often even fish from the Savinja River. The menu adapts daily to available produce, allowing the team to preserve authenticity while ensuring exceptional freshness.

Particularly striking are dishes that appeal both to lovers of tradition and to those seeking innovative approaches. The cuisine is defined by simple yet carefully prepared plates, which reflect the spirit of the region and the family heritage, while also offering depth of texture and refined aesthetics. The house also refines traditional methods of fermentation, smoking and marinating, enriching them with modern techniques, sometimes inspired by Eastern traditions such as kimchi or kombucha. This interplay of tradition and contemporary thinking shapes a culinary identity with a truly distinctive character.

At Hiša Raduha, hospitality and accommodation are inseparable. The lodging facilities are created from a former barn or hayrack, while the treehouse and riverside rooms offer rest, a close connection to nature and views that enhance the overall gastronomic experience. The entire offer is conceived as a carefully curated journey from beginning to end.

For the Savinja region and for Slovenian tourism as a whole, Hiša Raduha stands as an inspiration — an example of how local ingredients, family values and thoughtful leadership can create a tourism offer that resonates with conscious travellers, gastronomy enthusiasts and seekers of authentic experiences.
