Slovenia Enters Winter with Major Upgrades in Ski and Nordic Resorts

As the winter season approaches, Slovenia’s mountain and Nordic resorts are welcoming visitors with significant upgrades, strengthened infrastructure and a more connected national winter offer.

Over the past two years, extensive investments have transformed the country’s mountain destinations. Slovenia has upgraded accommodation, snowmaking systems, slopes and visitor facilities. Early results already show increased visits outside peak winter months and improved operational stability across resorts.

A major highlight of the season is the Unified Cross-Country Ski Pass, a national product that connects Slovenia’s leading Nordic centres through a single, streamlined ticket. The pass provides access to more than 200 kilometres of groomed trails across the country and this year introduces instant online purchasing, digital confirmations and simplified access for skiers. Upgrades are underway across Nordic destinations, including expanded snowmaking, new ice surfaces, modernised machinery and enhanced family-friendly facilities.

Ski resorts are also introducing improvements – from new wellness and dining options to enhanced infrastructure and snow management. Initiatives such as Šolar na smuči (Pupils on Skis), which offers free ski experiences for schoolchildren, further strengthen Slovenia’s position as an accessible and family-friendly ski destination. Summer numbers confirm the success of the year-round strategy, with mountain resorts recording their highest number of rides in the last eight years.
