Six Slovenian Hotels Earn Prestigious Michelin Key Recognition

The Michelin Group, globally renowned for its iconic restaurant stars, has once again turned its spotlight on the world’s finest hotels – unveiling this year’s recipients of the Michelin Key distinction. For the first time ever, Slovenia joins this elite circle, with six of its hotels honoured for their exceptional hospitality, design and commitment to sustainability.

Chalet Sofija proudly received two keys, while Peterc Vineyard Estate, Otočec Castle, AS Boutique Hotel, Zlata ladjica and Nebesa Chalets each earned one. With this milestone, Slovenia takes its place among destinations celebrated for outstanding hotel excellence. In total, 17 Slovenian properties are now featured on the Michelin platform – a testament to the country’s growing reputation for refined, boutique-style stays that embody authenticity and a strong sense of place. The additional Slovenian hotels listed include Kendov Dvorec, Vander Urbani Resort, Hotel Bohinj, InterContinental Ljubljana, Bloom Hotel, Tivoli Boutique Inn, Alpik Chalets, Grand Hotel Union, Hotel One66, Vila Muhr and Hotel Nox.

The Michelin Key is considered the hotel equivalent of the Michelin Star – a hallmark of establishments offering an experience that goes beyond accommodation to express a true sense of identity and excellence. Out of more than 7,000 hotels worldwide rigorously evaluated by Michelin inspectors, only 143 earned three keys, 572 two and 1,742 one – placing Slovenia’s six honorees among the most remarkable properties on the global stage.

Each recognised hotel stands out for its distinct character, impeccable service and design excellence. Michelin inspectors assess hotels based on five pillars of quality:

  • Architectural and interior design excellence
  • Quality and consistency of service
  • Character and individuality
  • Value for money
  • Contribution to the destination and local environment

In this evolving landscape, Slovenia stands out as a model of harmony between nature, culture and contemporary design.
