Two Cycling Legends, One Weekend: Pogačar and Roglič Ride for Fans and Good Causes

This October, Slovenia will once again feel the heartbeat of cycling greatness. Two of the world’s most celebrated riders – Tadej Pogačar and Primož Roglič, both proud ambassadors of Slovenian tourism – are giving back to their fans in a remarkable way. During the second weekend of October, the nation will ride alongside its heroes, who together boast an incredible ten victories in the world’s three biggest cycling tours.

On Sunday, 12 October, two unforgettable events will unfold, each capturing the spirit of Slovenian cycling. Primož Roglič will take the lead in the charity ride “Zlati krog” (Golden Loop) in Novo mesto, while Tadej Pogačar invites cyclists to conquer his home route from Klanec near Komenda to Krvavec. For those not taking to the saddle, both events promise vibrant atmospheres filled with live music, community spirit, and celebration.

Primož Roglič – The Golden Loop

The Golden Loop charity ride makes its new home in Novo mesto, Slovenia’s cycling capital, following last year’s success in Nova Gorica.

Fans will have the rare opportunity to ride beside Roglič – admired for his perseverance, humility, and courage – on a 62.5-kilometre route from the Olympic Centre in Novo mesto to the scenic finish line atop Trška Gora. True to its name, the Golden Loop carries a golden purpose: all proceeds from entry fees and charity auctions will support children taking their very first cycling steps.

Pogi Challenge: S klanca v klanc

Meanwhile, in the foothills of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Tadej Pogačar, the reigning world champion and master of the climbs, launches his inaugural Pogi Challenge: S klanca v klanc. The 23-kilometre route from Komenda to Krvavec, with 1,189 metres of elevation gain, offers cyclists the chance to test their strength on the same terrain that shaped one of the greatest riders of his generation. The reward at the summit? A live concert by legendary Slovenian rock band Siddharta.

The celebration begins already on Saturday, when fans gather in Komenda to watch Pogačar’s final race of the season on a big screen – a perfect prelude to Sunday’s challenge and festive meet-up with “Pogi” himself. The event also carries a charitable mission: an auction of Pogačar’s cycling memorabilia and jerseys will raise funds for the Tadej Pogačar Foundation, which provides aid to those affected by natural disasters and supports children and families in need.
