From Sparkling Wine to Tradition – A New Story in the Old House in Bizeljsko

Janez Istenič has long been a pioneer of wine tourism in the Bizeljsko region, inviting visitors to discover not only the origins of sparkling wine but also the area’s cultural heritage. To deepen this experience, the Istenič family has opened an info-interpretation centre in the Old Bizeljsko House, offering a window into the traditions and stories of the destination.

For more than fifty years, the Istenič name has been synonymous with top-quality sparkling wine, while also shaping a tourism offer that links winemaking with gastronomy, heritage and nature. The vision has always been clear: for guests to experience wine where it is born – among the vineyards, in direct connection with the winemaker and the environment. By working with local providers, this vision has now been enriched with an information and interpretation centre in a traditional 19th-century Bizeljsko house with a straw roof, today protected as a cultural monument. It was here that the story of their passion for sparkling wine first began.

The centre introduces guests to the wider destination, offering information about active leisure opportunities, guided tours of cultural and natural landmarks and experiences created in cooperation with local providers. In this way, the Istenič family strengthens a comprehensive and diverse tourism offer that meets the expectations of the modern traveller.
