Authentic Solčavsko Heritage Shapes Hotel Plesnik’s Sustainable Offer

Authentic Solčavsko Heritage Shapes Hotel Plesnik’s Sustainable Offer

In the idyllic Logar Valley, Hotel Plesnik now offers guests and visitors an expanded collection of experiences that showcase Solčavsko’s heritage, traditions, wellness and authentic local cuisine. Among them, the Herbs and Flavours of the Logar Valley experience stands out – an aromatic journey through the valley’s meadows and gardens, guided by renowned herbalist Amanda Kladnik of Babave, whose creations have earned the Slovenia Unique Experience label.

The Herbs and Flavours of Logar Valley experience takes visitors into the world of Solčavsko’s herbal tradition, where people have lived in harmony with nature and the healing power of plants for centuries. Together with herbalist Amanda Kladnik, participants stroll through surrounding meadows and the hotel’s herb garden, where they collect medicinal herbs characteristic of the area. They touch, smell, taste the plants and learn about their beneficial effects. Each step is both an educational and sensory experience, infused with respect for nature and local heritage. Participants then prepare a herbal spread using the collected herbs and fresh cottage cheese from Strmčnik Farm or Matk Farm. Served on freshly baked, crispy flatbread, it surprises with a palette of flavours despite its simplicity. The experience is complemented by homemade drinks, enhancing the taste of the snack and contributing to a holistic culinary moment in a pleasant atmosphere.

For the overall well-being of its guests, Hotel Plesnik has also expanded its offer with a variety of carefully designed relaxation experiences, such as meditation, yoga, self-massage workshops and interactive Ayurvedic workshops led by renowned Ayurvedic expert and certified yoga teacher Dayal Joy.

In partnership with the Rinka Centre – the Solčavsko Tourism and Sustainable Development Board – Hotel Plesnik offers guests a rich menu of experiences, from exploring pristine nature and life on a mountain farm to creative workshops, sensory adventures, and tastings of local delicacies. Highlights include goat milking in the Matkov kot valley, forest bathing, crafting felt from indigenous sheep’s wool and visits to traditional high-altitude farms.

Rooted in local knowledge, sustainable practices and strong ties with the community, Hotel Plesnik’s experiences reflect a profound commitment to preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the Logar Valley and Solčavsko. Guided by the belief that true sustainability stems from respect for nature, tradition and people, this ethos is woven into daily operations. In 2025, it earned the restaurant a Green Michelin Star – the highest accolade for sustainable gastronomy – and recognition in the Falstaff Restaurant Guide.
