Slovenia at Expo 2025 Osaka: Halfway Milestone Reached with Nearly 1.7 Million Visitors and Growing Global Recognition

As Expo 2025 Osaka enters its second half, Slovenia is marking a pivotal moment in its participation – celebrating both impressive results and a clearly strengthened international profile. With nearly 1.7 million visitors engaging with the Slovenian pavilion since the Expo opened, the country has firmly positioned itself as a respected and visible partner in the global Expo community.

Slovenia’s presence at Expo 2025 goes far beyond an exhibition space. Located within a joint pavilion shared by eleven countries, Slovenia has created a dynamic platform for partnerships, dialogue and diplomacy. Over the past three months, the Slovenian team has hosted more than ten official delegations, including two of four high-level economic missions – the remaining two set to take place in September and October. Dozens of smaller academic and business visits have further enriched the programme.

To date, Slovenia has carried out:

  • 57 official pavilion visits,
  • 13 formal receptions,
  • 9 conferences,
  • 19 hosted tourist groups from Slovenia,
  • 5 standalone events,
  • 25 national day visits to other countries’ pavilions and
  • 16 media interviews for both Slovenian and international outlets.

In parallel, Slovenia has forged or deepened direct diplomatic and economic ties with more than 40 countries, including Japan, the United States, China, Saudi Arabia, Canada and Italy. The team also maintains active engagement with key international organisations such as the BIE (Bureau International des Expositions), the European Union, NATO and the United Nations pavilions.

Slovenia has also played a leading role in shaping the identity of the joint pavilion, helping to initiate the unifying slogan “United in Diversity, Connected in Cooperation.” This collaborative approach has amplified the visibility of all eleven countries and reinforced Slovenia’s role as a connector and content contributor on the international stage.

The Slovenian pavilion attracts nearly 18,000 visitors a day, exceeding projections both in attendance and positive feedback. Visitors are discovering not only a country rich in natural beauty and cultural depth, but a trusted international partner in innovation, creativity, and diplomacy.

“Slovenia has built a credible and respected presence,” says MSc. Saša Leban, Commissioner General of the Republic of Slovenia for Expo 2025 Osaka. “When I first stepped into the pavilion in Osaka three months ago, I knew the journey ahead would be demanding. Today, we can already see concrete results. In the coming months, we’ll reinforce Slovenia’s presence through strong content and new partnerships. Our goal remains clear: for every visitor to feel Slovenia – and take that impression with them.”

Looking ahead, Slovenia will focus on several high-impact highlights in the second half of the Expo, with special emphasis on:

  • Showcasing Slovenian business and innovation,
  • Promoting academic and research excellence,
  • Enhancing global media presence and
  • Developing strategic partnerships across Asia and beyond.

A special spotlight will remain on turning interest into long-term partnerships with governments, companies and institutions that recognise Slovenia as a forward-thinking and reliable partner.
