Hop-On Hop-Off Around the Kamnik-Savinja Alps Goes Electric and More User-Friendly in 2025

The popular Hop-On Hop-Off shuttle service around the Kamnik-Savinja Alps returns for its fifth season, offering a sustainable and scenic way to explore one of Slovenia’s most picturesque regions—this year with two major upgrades: an electric vehicle and a new online booking system.

First launched in 2021, the Hop-On Hop-Off project has quickly become a favourite for travellers looking to discover the natural and cultural highlights of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps without needing a car. For the 2025 season, the service makes its first transition to an electric van, reducing carbon emissions and noise in the sensitive alpine environment.

The shift to electric transport reflects a broader commitment to protecting the region’s ecosystems, which provide clean drinking water to the wider area. Organizers emphasize that preserving this pristine landscape for future generations remains their top priority.

Now With Online Booking for Easier Planning

In addition to environmental improvements, this year’s season introduces a more convenient online ticketing and seat reservation system. Passengers can now book their seats and plan their journeys in advance through the official website

Ticket purchases will no longer be available onboard, making the website the starting point for all adventures. The platform provides details on schedules, routes, stops and prices, which range from 5 to 12 euros, depending on the length of the trip.

Operating Daily from June to September

The service runs daily from 21 June to 14 September 2025, with two trips per day – one in each direction. The eight-seat electric van follows a circular route that links the towns of Kamnik, Komenda, Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Preddvor, Jezersko, Solčava and Luče.

The route offers a relaxed and scenic way to discover charming villages, alpine valleys, and cultural landmarks, while also avoiding the need for a private vehicle.
