New Hop-On & Hop-Off Bus Line Launched in Nova Gorica as Part of the ECoC

New Hop-On & Hop-Off Bus Line Launched in Nova Gorica as Part of the ECoC

To mark the European Capital of Culture (ECoC) year, Nova Gorica has introduced a new circular hop-on, hop-off tourist bus line, making it easier for locals and visitors to explore ten key attractions in and around the city.

Running every Friday and Saturday from May 1 to September 30, the service enhances sustainable mobility while enriching the region’s tourism offer. An all-day ticket costs just 5 euros and children up to 10 years old ride free. Tickets can be purchased directly on the bus. Timetables will be clearly displayed at each stop and published on the operator’s website.

The route provides convenient access to sites such as Edvard Rusjan Square, Europe Square, Rafutski Park, Kromberk Castle, Sveta Gora and Rihemberk Castle, among others. A new stop at the Lijak Green Entry Centre will be added from June 7.

This initiative is part of the Municipality of Nova Gorica’s broader commitment to sustainable tourism and aims to accommodate the expected increase in visitors due to the ECoC programme. By offering a circular route, the city encourages environmentally conscious travel and reduces the need for individual car use.

Information about the service is available at the Nova Gorica Tourist Information Centre, the GO!2025 Office and the Cultural Information Contact Point.

With this move, Nova Gorica follows in the footsteps of neighbouring Gorica, where a similar weekend bus line is already in operation. Both cities are working in tandem to support increased visitor traffic during this extraordinary year for the cross-border region.
