Dovžan Gorge: A Geological Wonderland

Located in the central part of the Karavanke Mountains, Dovžan Gorge is a protected natural monument and one of the most geologically significant areas in Slovenia. This narrow gorge, carved by the Tržiška Bistrica River, is flanked by striking stone pyramids and boasts an array of sedimentary rocks that date back to the late Paleozoic era.

Dovžan Gorge is home to a unique deposit of rocks, many of which contain fossils that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. As a result, it serves as an outdoor classroom for geology enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The St. Anne Mine: A Journey Into Tržič's Mining History

Another gem of Tržič’s natural and industrial heritage is the St. Anne Mine, an old mining site that offers visitors a fascinating look at the region's mining past.
