Cross-Border Bus Lines Strengthen Ties Between Nova Gorica and Gorizia as ECoC 2025

Cross-Border Bus Lines Strengthen Ties Between Nova Gorica and Gorizia as ECoC 2025

As Nova Gorica and Gorizia jointly hold the title of European Capital of Culture 2025, cross-border mobility is taking a major step forward.

From 1 February 1, two enhanced bus lines connect key locations in both cities, ensuring better accessibility for residents and visitors while fostering closer cooperation between the two municipalities.

  • Existing cross-border line: Serving Gorizia Centrale (I), Nova Gorica Railway Station and Nova Gorica Bus Station, this line will now run every 30 minutes, with additional morning and evening services.
  • New cross-border line: Expanding coverage, this new route will also operate every 30 minutes, connecting Goriziaa Centrale, Nova Gorica Railway Station, Solkan, Nova Gorica Bus Station, Rafutski Park, Rožna Dolina and Šempeter pri Gorici.

Both lines run every day. The single ticket is priced at €1.70, while the day ticket offers great value at €3.40, allowing unlimited travel on both cross-border lines. Additionally, children up to 10 years old, when accompanied by a family member with a valid ticket, can travel free of charge, making this an affordable and sustainable travel option for families.

In addition, the Italian carrier will also operate a direct cross-border intercity route connecting Trieste Airport, Gorizia and Nova Gorica. This convenient service runs every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The single ticket price for the Nova Gorica – Gorizia route is just €1.70, while the fare for the Nova Gorica – Trieste Airport route is €5.60. Children up to the age of 10, when accompanied by a family member with a valid ticket, can travel free of charge.
