Tastes Without Borders: Culinary Celebration at ECoC 2025 Opening

In celebration of the official opening of the European Capital of Culture 2025, Nova Gorica will come alive with a number of culinary delights on Saturday, February 8. The Nova Gorica Regional Chamber of Crafts and Entrepreneurship will showcase the rich gastronomic heritage of the region with the Tastes Without Borders event, held between Bevkov trg and Kidričeva Street.

From 11:00 to 22:00, visitors will be treated to an exceptional culinary experience, featuring a diverse range of local chefs, winemakers, brewers and other members of the Catering, Food and Tourism Section.

The event will feature traditional dishes such as jota with sausage, tripe with polenta, fresh pasta, meat lasagna a burger with Solkan chicory, and an assortment of meats. A standout offer will be the Goriški njok (Gorizia Region gnocchi) — a signature project by the chamber, representing the heart of local cuisine, set to gain wider visibility during this celebrated event.

In addition to the flavourful food, local winemakers will provide carefully selected wines to pair with each dish. A serving of prosciutto will complement the wine, further elevating the tasting experience.

By choosing the Nova Gorica Regional Chamber of Crafts and Entrepreneurship as a partner for this event, the organisers and the local community highlight the significance of cuisine as a central element of the region's economic and cultural vitality. This event will not only be a celebration of regional flavours but also an opportunity to promote local culinary specialties, marking the beginning of this important European cultural journey.

Mark your calendar for September 26–28, as one of the region’s most beloved food and wine festivals, Tastes Without Borders, extends to the Slovenian side. Enjoy a feast of gourmet delights paired with artistic experiences, offering a vibrant celebration of local cuisine and culture.
