Inspiring Stories to Start the New Year

Explore our latest content, designed to inspire your next adventure to Slovenia and showcase key events that will define 2025.

The New Year invites reflection on past accomplishments and, more importantly, sparks a sense of anticipation for the future. The Slovenian Tourist Board is delighted to share a curated selection of stories from 2024, along with a glimpse of the exciting developments ahead in 2025. We invite you to explore our latest content, designed to inspire your next adventure to Slovenia and showcase key events that will define the year ahead.

One of the standout moments of 2025 is the historic designation of Nova Gorica and neighbouring Gorizia as the first-ever cross-border European Capital of Culture. This cultural milestone brings the GO!2025 programme, a diverse collection of cultural and artistic events set in extraordinary venues, featuring renowned artistic figures and ambitious projects such as the ECOC District – an exciting new hub of creativity. As a European Capital of Culture, Nova Gorica also catches the attention of global travel media. Notably, the respected British publication Wanderlust has placed Slovenia and its charming towns on their prestigious Good to Go list 2025, highlighting Slovenia as one of the top 25 destinations to visit this year.

This year, we continue to offer well-loved content, such as our annual list of the top 10 reasons why Slovenia is a must-visit destination. Whether you're a food enthusiast, an urban explorer, or an adrenaline seeker, Slovenia has something to captivate every traveller. Our vibrant calendar of cultural events, music festivals, and major sporting competitions ensure there’s always something happening, while Slovenia’s natural beauty invites outdoor adventures year-round.

We’re also excited to share some of the most notable achievements of Slovenian tourism in 2024. Among them are the launch of Alma, our virtual consultant, and the introduction of Sound Stories—a new feature that offers an exciting audio journey through Slovenia.

We encourage you to explore the highlighted content and discover all that Slovenia has to offer.
