Maribor's Iconic Oldest Vine House Begins a New Chapter

Maribor's renovated Old Vine House now offers over 200 wine labels and a modernized year-round experience, blending history, art and digital features.

This week, Maribor unveiled the revitalized Old Vine House, a celebrated landmark that has attracted visitors since its opening in 2007. The renovation, completed over five months with support from the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport and the Municipality of Maribor, introduces an expanded offer with more than 200 wine labels from over 50 Styrian winemakers. Set to welcome guests 365 days a year starting this December, the House now combines a rich history with modern experiences, enhancing its place as Maribor’s most visited tourist attraction and a proud symbol of Slovenian heritage.

The space has been reimagined with sandy tones and dark furnishings to highlight the largest floor mosaic in Slovenia, as well as an impressive wine library. A new long tasting table allows for group tastings, complemented by digitalized content that guides visitors through the Podravje wine region. Artworks by renowned local artists bring the region’s history and culture to life, creating a seamless fusion of tradition and contemporary artistry. The renovation represents a major leap forward for Maribor’s tourism, positioning the Old Vine House as a key player in the development of quality, sustainable tourism infrastructure in Slovenia.
