Slovenia Shines Yellow: A Nation United in Cycling Triumph

Tour de France continues to shine with Slovenian pride despite Primož Roglič's unfortunate crashes. Tadej Pogačar is leading the race into the third week while wearing the yellow jersey. Both Slovenian cycling stars have garnered massive global support, a sentiment vividly reflected in their social media presence and celebrated by the Slovenian Tourist Board.

Slovenia Shines Yellow: A Nation United in Cycling Triumph

The Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) is carrying out an extensive promotion of Slovenia as a top green destination for active outdoor adventures during the Tour de France. In the race’s final week, the STB is spotlighting content about Slovenian cyclists and the country itself across social media platforms. To mark Pogačar's 100th stage of the Tour de France, the STB has also crafted a special congratulatory message and is actively promoting an initiative to turn Slovenia yellow to honour his leadership.

Halfway through the Tour de France, the most poignant moment was Primož Roglič's unexpected withdrawal. Supporters rallied with heartfelt messages wishing him a swift recovery. However, the standout moment came on stage 17, when fans displayed a special motivational message for Roglič using banners and flags, expressing their well-wishes. This touching tribute garnered significant attention in TV broadcasts worldwide, highlighting the global support for the cyclist.

Pogačar Graces L'Equipe's Festive Sunday Cover

Tadej Pogačar, clad in the yellow leader's jersey, is a constant media magnet, admired not only for his cycling skills but also for his approachable and laid-back character. His camaraderie with fellow cyclists, media and fans makes him a beloved figure in the sport.

Following his remarkable victory in the 14th stage of the Tour de France on Saturday, where he excelled on one of the race's most grueling stages, Pogačar captured the spotlight on the front page of L'Equipe on Bastille Day. This prominent feature in one of the world's leading sports dailies highlighted his exceptional performance on France's national holiday.

Just a day later, Pogačar clinched a second mountain stage win, earning him a place among the week's top headlines, alongside the champions of EURO 2024 and Wimbledon.

Slovenian Fans Captivate International Media with Their Enthusiasm

With Slovenian cyclists achieving remarkable international success in recent years, a significant number of Slovenian fans are attending the Tour de France this year. Their presence at major sporting events has consistently added a unique flair to these global spectacles, as demonstrated during the recent Giro d’Italia.

NBC Sports recently interviewed a young Slovenian fan and his family, who are passionately cheering at the Tour de France. The fan's heartfelt words: "We're not really a sporty family, but we ski, cycle, run. And we cheer for all our athletes," have resonated widely on social media. This genuine display of support has garnered admiration from viewers around the world. You can catch the full interview here.
