Every two years, the JRE (Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe) members meet internationally in an inspiring European location. During this two-day event, chefs and restaurateurs exchange professional experiences, discuss current trends in the industry, share personal stories, and, above all, enjoy quality time together. This year, the event took place in Paris on 7 and 8 April to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Attendees reflected on five decades of top-notch gastronomy and looked ahead to the future. France took centre stage for this edition, with Slovenia set to take the spotlight in two years.

Led by Hans Van Manen, President of the JRE, delegates began the event at Théâtre Édouard 7 with two roundtable discussions on the future of gastronomy and the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR). This was followed by the presentation of the JRE 2024 awards, including the "Sommelier of the Year" awarded to Slovenian Nina Bratovž of JB Restaurant in Ljubljana, a family-run establishment also recognized by 50 Best Discovery.

The six winners of the JRE 2024 Awards were:

  • Entrepreneur Award: Enrico Bartolini (Mudec by Enrico Bartolini, Italy)
  • Talent/Chef of the Year: Alexander Wulf (Troyka, Germany)
  • Sommelier of the Year: Nina Bratovž (JB Restavracija, Slovenia)
  • Sustainability Award: Stefano Pinciaroli (PS, Italy)
  • Innovation Award: Ryan Blackburn (The Old Stamp House, UK)
  • Taste of Origin: Uwe Machreich (Triad, Austria)

The day continued at the Carreau du Temple in Paris with masterclasses, demonstrations, tastings, and presentations before culminating in a 10 hands gala dinner on the Seine prepared by 5 JRE Chefs, among them also by Ana Roš from Hiša Franko
