Ljubljana Airport Unveils 22 Airlines Operating 25 Scheduled Routes for Summer Season

This summer, Ljubljana Airport is set to host a record-breaking 22 scheduled airlines, the largest number ever seen. These airlines will operate across 25 routes, spanning Europe and beyond. Excitingly, three new routes will be introduced: airBaltica to Riga, Norwegiana to Copenhagen, and Iberia to Madrid. In addition to scheduled services, charter flights will be available to 57 holiday hotspots.

The summer timetable, effective from Sunday, March 31, to October 26, marks a significant shift in passenger traffic at Ljubljana Airport. Known for its seasonal traffic pattern, the airport experiences a notable surge in passenger numbers during spring, reaching its peak during the summer months. During this period, passenger volumes typically double compared to winter. The summer season brings a broader selection of flights, with increased diversity in destinations and frequencies. With 22 scheduled carriers offering over 150 flights per week to 25 destinations during the peak season, travelers can expect more options and convenience when planning their journeys.

Introducing New Routes to Riga, Copenhagen and Madrid

Beginning April 25, airBaltic will kick off flights to Riga, connecting Slovenia with Latvia twice a week, every Thursday and Sunday. Then, starting April 29, Norwegian will launch its new service to Copenhagen, offering flights to Denmark twice a week, with expanded frequencies during the peak summer season. Passengers can also benefit from seamless onward connections via Copenhagen Airport, Northern Europe's largest aviation hub. And that's not all—mark your calendars for July 29 when Iberia's Madrid service joins the lineup, providing two flights a week throughout August.

All services available in the 2024 summer timetable are scheduled to operate at the following frequencies: 

  • Aegean Airlines twice weekly to Athens,
  • airBaltic twice weekly to Riga,
  • Air Montenegro three times weekly to Podgorica and three times weekly to Tivat,
  • Air France up to ten times a week to Paris,
  • Air Serbia 16 times weekly to Belgrade and twice weekly to Niš,
  • British Airways daily to London Heathrow,
  • Brussels Airlines daily to Brussels,
  • easyJet six times weekly to London Gatwick,
  • flydubai four times a week to Dubai,
  • Finnair four times a week to Helsinki,
  • GP Aviation twice weekly to Pristina,
  • Iberia twice weekly to Madrid,
  • Israir three times a week to Tel Aviv,
  • LOT Polish Airlines nine times weekly to Warsaw,
  • Lufthansa three times daily to Frankfurt and twice daily to Munich,
  • Luxair twice weekly to Luxembourg,
  • Norwegian twice weekly to Copenhagen,
  • SWISS Airlines eleven times weekly to Zurich,
  • Transavia four times a week to Amsterdam,
  • Transavia France four times a week to Paris, Orly,
  • Turkish Airlines twice daily to Istanbul and
  • Wizz Air three times a week to Skopje.

Passenger Numbers Are Increasing Significantly

Ljubljana Airport has seen a remarkable increase in passenger traffic, with over 161,000 travelers passing through from January to February—a growth of more than 31% compared to the same period last year. This upward trend is expected to continue into March.
