8 February marks a joyous celebration of Slovenian culture

Today, Slovenian Culture Day is being celebrated, as a homage to France Prešeren (1800-1849), Slovenia's greatest poet. This day holds special significance as Slovenia stands among few nations with a public holiday dedicated to cultural heritage. Across the country, several cultural institutions open its doors and organise special events, to foster a vibrant celebration of Slovenian culture.

Aligned with this spirit, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) has designated Art and Culture as the overarching communication theme for 2024 and 2025. The focus is on showcasing Slovenia as a dynamic destination, blending sustainability with urban charm and rich history. Promotional efforts will spotlight contemporary cultural production, renowned festivals and unique heritage sites.

The European Capital of Culture 2025 in Nova Gorica and Gorizia exemplifies cross-border collaboration, offering an ideal platform to spotlight Slovenia's cultural vibrancy. The theme "Packing the opposites into one day!" embodies this initiative's ethos of transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Cultural tourism appeals to travelers seeking authentic experiences and immersion in artistic creativity. Slovenia, with its vibrant arts scene and rich cultural heritage, has the potential to emerge as a distinctive destination, captivating visitors year-round.
